KENTUCKY REGIONAL EXTENSION CENTER

bigchangesaheadOn April 15, CMS issued another set of proposed rules that will make significant adjustments to the EHR Incentive program. But never fear, the Kentucky REC is here to help!

CMS issued two Notices of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM) in recent weeks: one to make adjustments to the current EHR Incentive Program for Years 2015-2017 and another  announcing proposed requirements for Stage 3 Meaningful Use. The Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health Information Technology also issued a new NPRM for the 2015 Health IT Certification Program.

Kentucky REC’s summary of the major provisions of the 2015-2017 changes is available here:  NPRM 2015-2017 EHR Incentive Program Modifications

Please note: this is only a PROPOSED rule. Because of the federal rule making process, it will be months before these rules are final. Therefore, we have time to digest these changes, comment on them and then wait for the federal government to issue the final regulations.

Yet, now is the time to make your voice heard. We want to hear your thoughts about these proposed changes!
The Kentucky REC is working with the Kentucky Health Information Exchange team to provide comments back to ONC and CMS about what providers in Kentucky think about the proposed rules.
Please provide your comments by sending a message on our Contact Us page or send an email to kyrec@uky.edu. Or, you may submit a formal comment directly to the federal agencies through any of the three links above (Click the green button on the top right side of the page on the federal register site that says “Submit a formal comment”).

In the coming months, we will be providing additional information and resources about these changes, so be sure to check back with us regularly!
